Speaking Lingala stopped the chaos.
As a native Lingala speaker in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I had a very memorable experience during a cultural festival in Kinshasa where language and music created a strong connection between people from different backgrounds.
Situation:
Cultural festival featuring Congolese Rumba music
Presence of foreign visitors who did not speak Lingala
Festive atmosphere with dancing and interaction
What I experienced:
I started speaking Lingala with friends
Foreign visitors tried to understand and repeat some phrases
We shared laughter, danced, and sang together
How language and culture helped:

They facilitated communication even without a shared language
They created a sense of belonging and connection
They allowed us to share part of our identity
Importance of this experience:
I realized that language goes beyond words
Culture can bring together very different people
It made me proud of my linguistic and cultural identity
Conclusion:
Language and culture are bridges between people
They create unique and unforgettable moments
