Tatreez
JordanArabicAmman
One of the most beautiful and meaningful traditional crafts in our Jordanian community is Tatreez — the intricate hand-embroidery that adorns thobes (traditional dresses).

Significance:
Each region and village has its own unique patterns and colours that tell stories of identity, heritage, and history.
It is passed down from mothers to daughters and represents patience, creativity, and cultural pride.
The colours and motifs (flowers, geometric shapes, birds) often symbolize fertility, protection, and the beauty of nature.
Today, women wear embroidered thobes with pride during weddings, Eid, and special occasions. Modern designers also blend tatreez into contemporary fashion to keep the tradition alive.
