The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is one of the world's most spectacular architectural wonders, but its journey wasn't easy. Groundbreaking began in 1996 under the vision of the UAE's founding father, but it required 11 years of non-stop work, a battalion of over 3,000 workers, and 38 specialized construction companies to finally complete.Designed to unite the world, materials and master craftsmen were brought together from Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, and beyond. To protect the structure from the UAE's harsh, humid salt air, engineers even had to invent a custom concrete blend to make it last for generations. Today, this masterpiece stands tall with 82 white marble domes, 1,000 columns, and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet—woven by 1,200 artisans over two years.
